How Clueless Are You?

Are you absolutely clueless about health insurance? Do you even care about your medical coverage until you need to use it? Does just the mere thought of it make you cringe? Congratulations! You're in good company. Only millions of other people are just as clueless and/or disinterested in it as you are--until they have to use it! Then everything changes, doesn't it? All of a sudden, knowing everything about your health insurance coverage becomes a matter of life or death. Pursuing information about the benefits to which you're entitled takes over your life and finding out what your inalienable rights are to have every penny of your medical bills covered consumes your every waking hour. Ah yes, when our money's at risk we become very interested in just what we couldn't have cared less about two days ago!  But don't worry. No matter what stage of the health insurance process you might be in, I'm here to help.

Help Is On the Way

This site is designed to help you through the three phases of utilizing your health insurance coverage:

  1. Before you need to use it (the ideal, but probably too hopeful);
  2. While you're in the process of using it (the better late than never phase); and,
  3. After you've already used it (the "I didn't have a clue what was going on and now I'm in big trouble" phase).

Health Insurance Boring? Surely Not!

Think health insurance is boring? Think again. Okay, it still is, isn't it? But hopefully, through the use of a little humor from time to time I can help make the learning process just slightly less painful and boring and a little more fun and interesting.

Here's some things I plan to cover on this site:

how to identify exactly what type of health plan you have (what you think is health insurance may not be);
when to accept defeat and ask for help (we all have to do this from time to time);
where to go to get help;
understanding the difference between the many plans available and deciding which one is right for you;
knowing when you're entitled to continuation coverage so you can protect your health and avoid major financial losses between jobs;
understanding what federal and state mandates are and if you're entitled to them;
discovering what the insurance regulatory business is all about and why you don't always get the coverage you want and why you shouldn't want it;
up-to-date news articles from major media sources; and
much, much more.

All the Answers

Will I be able to provide all the answers you need? Unfortunately, no one can do that. Health insurance has become extremely complex. I will, though, be doing my best to provide you with factual information designed to help you gain an overall understanding of health insurance from which you can build a foundation for getting the medical benefits and help you need and to which you are entitled. However, since no one's perfect, it's possible that I may end up conveying incorrect information to you without intending to.  I will make every attempt to ensure that the information I share with you on this site is as accurate as possible. In the event an error is made, I will post any corrections as quickly as possible.

Legal Advice

Please understand that I am not an attorney and nothing printed on this site constitutes legal advice. Only your own health insurance company can provide exact answers regarding your insurance benefits. Always contact an attorney or your state insurance commissioner if you feel your rights have been violated before taking any action that may negatively impact your health or financial situation.

Important Site Status Information

This site is under construction and will take some time to build. Quite frankly, I'm totally clueless about buidling a web site so I'm learning how to do this from scratch. While you're learning about health insurance, I'll be learning about mastering web pages. So bear with me and check back often to see what changes have been made and what new information has been added.
